Grazie

guarda Paolo, ti scrivo direttamente quanto scritto, molto casualmente, ieri sulla pagina di "Journal of Thethys" su linkedin:

The principal directions of a regional stress field can be calculated from the analysis of slip motions induced by this stress field on faults with various dip and strike. The direction of slip motions can be derived either from striated fault planes (structural analysis) or from the focal mechanisms of seismic events associated with these motions.

Estimates of ridge push for the Indian Ocean are ~1012 N/m, increasing by a factor of 3–4 for large oceanic plates such as the Atlantic

Non capisco chi è 3-4 volte l'altro.... E' maggiore la spinta indiana o atlantica?

Come ottengono questi dati?

Quote:
Mountain building at convergent margins requires tectonic forces that can overcome frictional resistance along large-scale thrust faults and support the gravitational potential energy stored within the thickened crust of the orogen. A general, dynamic model for this process is still lacking.

....e ancora.....

Quote:
For the slab suction type, deep mantle convection produces the unique conditions to drag plates toward each other, irrespective of their nature and other boundary conditions.
