"The most farcical natural hazard event of the decade must be the ridiculous trial of Italian seismologists and government officials over their “failure” to issue a warning (i.e. to predict) the L’Aquila earthquake. Italy has been very proactive in the management of natural hazards – this process undermines so much of what has been achieved. It is hard to see how anyone involved in natural hazard research and mitigation would be willing to work in Italy if these individuals are convicted."
Michele, però abbiamo ripetuto ormai innumerevoli volte che non si tratta di un'accusa per non avere predetto il terremoto. I luminari internazionali sono stati male informati. Tutti quelli che hanno firmato la lettera a Napolitano. Complice però anche una iniziale confusione nelle dichiarazioni rilasciate dalla magistratura.
Nell'articolo su Nature mi sembra tutto esposto in maniera chiara. Il caso segna un precedente internazionale per quanto riguarda il disaster management. Ossia: se volete fare le cose, fatele bene altrimenti ve ne assumete le responsabilità.
