Riporto dalle norme tecniche della Nuova Zelanda:

3.1.3.1 Hierarchy for site classification methods
The preferred site classification method is from site periods based on four times the shearwave travel-time through material from the surface to underlying rock. The next preferred methods are from borelogs including measurement of geotechnical properties or by evaluation of site periods from Nakamura ratios or from recorded earthquake motions. Lacking this information, classification may be based on boreholes with descriptors but no geotechnical measurements. The least preferred method is from surface geology and estimates of the depth to underlying rock.
